Windsurfing: Felixstowe-Dip Wind Direction: SW to SSW Wind Stength: gusting 40mph Surf / Sea State: flat then big Air Temperature: 12 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: cloud Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Got down a bit after 11 to see Ian and Jim changing down from 7.5 to 5.5m.
I gam, bled on 6m and had about 30 minutes of great blasting; the best I've
had with 6m at Felixstowe. The sea did not have chop for once! and the
waves were gradual faces until far out. Great going back and forth until I
started to get overpowered and fell in on my last gybe: it would have been
so cool to return with dry hair.
Put 5.2m on 107l board and sea was almost flat enough but changed down to
87l and had some great runs and gybes on the waves now getting bigger. I
was then getting blasted out and cam in to change down to 4.2m. Even then I
was getting a bit overpowered as the board was too big as the sea got
messy. Dumpers started to get bnigger so launching was a challenge with
Roger and Ian just about surviving a couple of "trapped on teh deazone"
moments. Gusts were very strong and tiring work. Even with a winter steamer
I was getting cold, such a shock as last time out I had a shortie. Waves
were now lovely but I packed in as wind was forecast to get even
stronger. As it turns out it steadied and sea had big rollers and flat in
between that only Darren stayed out to enjoy and loop between. Good to see
Roger, Jim, Ian, Chris, Chris, Mark, Ian, Tom, Pete, and one other (sorry
cannot remember name) and one kiter. 5* for thegood bits which is what I am
left remembering.
